Frequently Asked Questions
Here are some of the Frequently Asked Questions:
1. Can you tell me a bit more about the kind of people who are members? What kind of businesses do they run?
I wish I could give you a specific answer, but I can’t. There are people from all walks of life. Some may be chiropractors, dentists, business coaches etc., The common factor is that they’re usually very small, and often just a single person business. However, they’re not all from one industry and have never been.
2. How busy is the forum? When you mention that you keep the numbers small, I’m not sure what that means and whether the forum is really vibrant and active…which is what I’m looking for.
The forum is extremely busy at times, but can have quiet moments. Even then it can be very active. Here’s a screen shot from today. As you can see, we are closing in on 200,000 posts (which is a heck of a lot for small numbers of people). If you’re looking for an active forum, well, that’s the way we’ve been since 2003, so nothing is going to change, as far as I can see.
All of these posts are in the last week or so, and have quite a few replies. I’ve been away, so things will always be quieter, but now that I’m back, it should step right up again.
3. Are there any types of businesses which wouldn’t be a good fit for you?
Not that I can think of. The only businesses that I think I would reject are those that sell fake dreams, or “instant” success. I detest those kind of people because they don’t deliver on their promises. Other than that, the motto of 5000bc is “be kind, be helpful or begone”.
We’ve had to get rid of two members in about 20 years, so I’d say that the people who join are well aware of what’s expected of them. Therefore we have a very responsible, calm and giving group at all times.
4. Is there any kind of a refund period? What if i join and it’s not the right fit?
There’s never been a refund period. I’d say that 5000bc needs to come on the back of the interactions you have had with us. There are about 500 podcasts, about a thousand articles, and lots of big and small products. And then there’s The Brain Audit.
If you’ve liked or found any of that useful, then you will find 5000bc to be of good use. The fit tends to happen before you join, is how I tend to think about it. Sorry if that sounds presumptuous, but it’s how I think people decide whether to join or not to join.
5) For context, I love asking questions…so much so that I had a question mark in the logo for the fledgling online business which I am hoping to build into something seriously successful this year.
And I love answering questions. So if you decide to join 5000bc, you can ask as many questions as you like 🙂 and indeed, get answers.
